Beginner Fashion Friendly

I think very highly of people who can just naturally piece together things in their closet and step out looking like a fashion model. This is an area that I am not too confidently strong in. So much so that I sometimes hire a Wardrobe Stylist to put me together so I won’t spiral into and anxiety attack.

This past Thursday I was invited by my close friend and Wardrobe Stylist, Dejeune’ Harris of Your Style is Forever to a very anticipated fashion show. It was an honor to even get invited to a District of Fashion show with such a talented person. I knew as her friend and client, I had to represent her well. Dejeune’ had recently did a closet edit for me a few months back so I felt good about the selection that I had. No need to go out and spend unnecessary coinage. If you don’t know what a closet edit is; She basically went through my entire closet and threw out pieces I was hoarding that either took up space or, let’s just be honest, was ugly as hell. She organized my entire wardrobe and It was like a breath of fresh air! I recommend that you have this service done as the season changes.

For this event I decided to step out of my comfort zone by picking colors that pop! I have not worn my 2018 Birthday dress since my birthday in Miami. I decided to bring her out and and show her off again. This satin wrap dress from Fashion Nova shows A LOT of cleavage. My first thought was “I’m not in Miami so I don’t want to show that much skin”. I’ve seen the graphic tee under a dress trend be pulled off by women of all shapes and sizes so why couldn’t I? I grabbed my H & M Viscose “no love lost” T-Shirt that I had purchased a week before. Now to the part that makes or breaks an outfit. THE SHOES! I had recently tried to deactivate my JUSTFAB account but had some credit that I wanted to use before I closed up my boutique. The Charli Slip on Heel in the color Blue crossed my mind and I went for it. Let me tell you how nervous I was to look in the mirror. For some reason I had psyched myself into thinking these colors together complimented nothing! Girl, was I wrong.

The wrap dress complimented my shape and the “no love lost” tee underneath made me feel causally comfortable. The shoe! BAYBEE! These open toe mules were the star of the outfit and I am so happy that I went with a pop of color. As for my handbag/clutch, I picked up my silver Chainmail Flat-Top clutch.

This outfit made me feel a little bit more confident in the clothes that I choose for myself to wear at special events. Keeping it safe is ok but stepping outside of the norm is way more fun and rewarding. I know at times I can really doubt myself but I am pushing beyond the lack of confidence to find my expressive wardrobe and to share it with the world. I’m excited to do more self fashion blogs and hopefully help someone else build their confidence or at least give them some ideas.
