Blue Waters Caribbean and Seafood Grill's New Brunch Menu

Brunch in Washington, DC and the surrounding metropolitan area (DMV) is almost holier than Sunday Church Service itself. Every Saturday and Sunday from as early as 10:30am to 3pm, you’ll see the city’s hustle and bustle of weekend Brunchers that bring in traffic almost identical to its weekday rush hour.

I was excited when I received an invitation from Montage PR Firm about a restaurant tucked away in the southern part of Maryland in an area known as Temple Hills/Camp Springs. About a 15 min ride from my house in South East Washington, DC, this place was so right in my backyard I don’t know how I missed that it even existed. Blue Waters Caribbean and Seafood Grill opened May of 2018 and has been a quiet gem in the DMV until now. Blue Waters was created to bring flavorful health conscious Caribbean inspired cuisines from the cooking traditions and techniques of 4 talented chefs to our hearts and stomachs. I’m going to share with you a few of my favorite dishes from their NEW Brunch Menu that are must orders.

Tropical Toast

I’m a big fan of all things bread-y so it was my hearts desire to first try their French Toast with an island twist. Thick cut Brioche bread infused with pineapple rum topped with warm butter & powdered sugar. This dish is sweet to perfection so I recommend tasting without syrup first.

Epic Seafood OMELETTE

I can’t bring up this dish without telling you it was super hard to decide between this omelette and the Jerk Chicken omelette. They both were packed with flavor but what made the seafood omelette stand out from all 3 specialty omelettes on the menu was the perfectly seasoned shrimp and jumbo lump crabmeat. At first it seemed a little overwhelming to look at but with the caramelized onions, peppers and a generous amount of cheese filling, I knew this dish would go over well with Marylanders.

Wild Caught Salmon Cakes

The Wild Caught Salmon cakes aren’t your typical Granny’s Sunday morning Salmon Cakes. They are made with fresh Salmon filet, not that processed canned salmon. No fillers and breaded just right, these Salmon cakes paired with the delicious BW Breakfast Potatoes take brunch to a whole new level.

Red and Blue Velvet Chicken and Waffles

I was excited to see some staple brunch dishes find their way on the new menu. What’s so great about Blue Waters Chicken & Waffles is in this area bone-in wings with this specific dish is rare. It was nice to see an actual fried chicken wing next to those beautifully bright colored waffles. The chicken nearly stole the show with it’s seasoning and crispy skin.

During this private tasting I was able to try everything Blue Waters CSG had to offer and I was simply floored and impressed by the chef’s ability to infuse the Caribbean world so effortlessly into that of the American brunch. You have a choice of pork or turkey bacon, Chicken cranberry or Andouille Sausage and a fine pour of Mimosa. True to their traditions and roots, Blue Waters also incorporated some Jamaican home cooked meals to the menu like Callalou, Ackee and Salt fish. Thankfully this Sunday, 12/15/2019, will be the debut of their brunch menu so I would implore you to get to those doors as soon as they unlock. Blue Waters is a cozy with ample amount of parking spot so if you get caught up in a wait, I assure it will be well worth it!

Happy Brunching, Friends!
