Cozy Apartment Patio Oasis

Going outside has been super ghetto lately. Gas prices, food, hell, and even bottled water are expensive. I’ve decided this Summer will no longer be a “Hot Girl” Summer but a “Luke Warm I just turned 36 so I’m Sitting My Butt Down” Summer. Because I plan on being in the comfort of my home I wanted to create a peaceful and tranquil space that I could retreat to when I felt like these 4 walls were closing in on me. I’m so excited to finally reveal my cozy bohemian-inspired patio space.

Selecting Seating

From the time I decided to add décor to my patio, I knew that I wanted an egg chair, but, BAYBEE! Those things are expensive and they take up so much room. While out searching for plants to add to my small pant family in Walmart, I found the egg chair of my dreams. Walmart’s Better Home and Gardens Ventura Boho Stationary Wicker Egg Chair is just small enough to fit snuggly in the corner but with enough room for a big girl like me to put my feet up and relax. I appreciated that it wasn’t your average hanging egg chair. It having legs instead of a pole with chain, made more room for more than just another accent chair.

Even though I want to be inside the majority of the Summer, I still want to be able to spend time with my family and friends. While creating my Pinterest board to put together the feel of my patio oasis, I came across a convertible love seat that conveniently went from two to four seating. This was perfect! A beautiful light wood compact space saver that would allow me the option of more room when I wanted to host a few folks over for wine and kee-kees. I found one on Wayfair but it wasn’t going with my Boho color theme and the other one I found on Amazon didn’t have good reviews. I’m all about trusting reviews of verified buyers. To my luck Target had exactly what I was looking for and it was cheaper than the other two. That’s a win for me! This space is all about rest so adding comfortable pillows to the seating was a must. Throwing a pop of color in amongst the earthy tones with burgundy lumbar throw pillows I picked up from Ross and a big circle pillow I also ordered from Target online.

Sitting In Style

When you think Boho style, you automatically think layered rugs, texture, patterns, bright lighting, and plants, plants, and more plants. I’m a new plant mom so caring for a bunch of outdoor plants was last on my list of things to do. Mainly because I’ll probably un-alive them all and those plants deserve better. To add that green factor without taking up so much space with faux plants I covered the hideous utility closet door with this Tropical peel and stick removable wallpaper. My favorite piece of this Bohemian puzzle is my 6ft Faux Banana Tree Plant. Layering my jute rug with a textured patterned black and white rug broke up the monotony of the wicker/rattan color. Both my coffee table, which I’m debating on changing out for a smaller one, and the shelf were previous finds that I had purchased and served their purpose inside my place. A great way to save money is to find things around your house that you could transfer to outdoor décor.

Lighting up my oasis

I’ll be the first to admit that my décor draws the eyes directly to my patio. There are times I sit outside and my neighbors walk by staring at my masterpiece of a patio. Sometimes I just want them to mind their business. I understand though because it is super cute. The Burlap Linen Outdoor Patio Curtains give me the privacy I need but still allow an amazing amount of natural light through. When the sun goes down and I need a bit more light, I plug in the mini patio lights to set a calm, sensual mood.

My outdoor sanctuary is complete for now. Of course, I’ll add more as the weeks go along to create more of an ideal oasis but, for right now, it’s exactly what I see when I think of peace of mind. Follow the links to shop this post and get some alternative ideas. Happy Decorating!
